Word Crafters at RSR @ Rest Stop Rejuvenate

Feb 22 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Word Crafters

Facilitated by Arianne Petersen

Date: Second & Fourth Thursday
Time: 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm!
Fee: $10.00 includes tea and cookies.

We are a friendly group of writers and storytellers who express ourselves through our love of the written word. All levels of craftsmanship and forms of writing are welcome, from poetry, prose fiction and nonfiction, to song writing, screenplays and scripts, and anything in between. Our goal is to inspire and encourage each other through good listening skills, positive feedback and creative energy.

We come together twice monthly to share and support our work. Our meetings start with a lively discussion about various writing topics, which are announced prior to the meetings. Discussions conclude after about twenty to thirty minutes. There is a short break as we transition into the sharing portion of our meetings. For the remaining approximate hour and a half, all writers are invited to share a brief selection of their personal work. Any level of critique is available based on the writer’s wants and needs, though critique is always optional. If anyone has longer pieces they would like to share at the meetings, they are invited to share those at the end of the meetings after everyone else has shared.

Life Center Stage presents
Journey Through Song Recovery Concert
Hosted by peers:  Bien Minosa, and Barb Lemasters

Time: Doors open at 7:30 the event begins at 8:00 pm
Cost: $10.00 includes beverage and snacks

Journey through Song Recovery Concert is an open mic-like event focused on connecting community. At each event, 8 performers are offered a spotlight to express themselves. This provides an essential platform for healing and connection through creative expression and welcomes individuals into a safe and supportive environment that encourages personal growth through taking positive risks. Many individuals who have attended had no intention of getting on the stage only to find themselves inspired to perform. Our goal is to unearth the creative passions that exist in all of us.

Although Journey through Song Recovery Concert is a recovery friendly event, all are invited to attend. Journey through Song Recovery Concerts take place on the 1st Saturday of every month at CARES and on the 4th Friday of each month at Rest Stop Rejuvenate. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the event begins at 8:00 PM. There is a $10 suggested donation that includes tea, coffee and snacks.

Why come to a community drum circle?

Our modern day life has taught us to think quickly, act quickly, accomplish quickly… we have lost our sense of connectedness. In a community drum circle, we are offered the opportunity to re-connect and express ourselves. In this non-judgmental environment, drumming facilitates a state of deep relaxation, joy, healing, and a sense of well-being. No prior experience is needed to attend.
