The past 18 months I have been co-host of the Journey through Song, a recovery oriented show. In which performers tell a little bit of themselves and how music, poetry, spoken word has helped them during their times of tribulation. I have seen many first come to just support a friend who is performing to finally hitting the stage themselves. They were inspired. Inspired enough to overcome their fear of performing. Fear is a common theme and it only holds us back from reaching our potential! At Journey, we encourage and support everyone to conquer fear. I will now share a bit of myself.  I am a recovering addict and a musician, have been clean over 8 years through 12 step programs. These programs helped me turn my life around, but there was still a hole. As a musician, I was afraid to perform, scared I might put myself in a situation to relapse. Scared I would fail. Scared people would laugh.  As co-host, I had to set the tone. So, I put myself out there to sing. Show after show I would get up and sing. And the fear of singing subsided as well. Whether I was good or not was not even a priority. It was about how good I felt. And it has been good. Really good. Very therapeutic! You see fear has held me back in every facet of my life. With the help of all those who perform and come support “ Journey “, I and many others see and feel how overcoming performing ( fear) can help us in life . Like the old saying, “ There is no failure in trying, only quitting” If things don’t work out, pick yourself up and keep moving. The wonderful part of the “Journey “ show is that everyone supports and inspires each other. It is a community. A wonderful community of people recovering from an assortment of issues. I am grateful to be a part of it.  – Bien Minosa
